Job Overview

The Director, Government Relations is responsible for the administration of Company political and legislative strategies in designated states, within their geographic area, including specified municipalities in that geography important to the Company’s overall business strategy. This role maintains a heavy focus on the development and maintenance of key relationships with state and local policymakers and forging strong community partners and lobbying in city and state legislative bodies. Additionally, the role will provide regional strategic political, public affairs, and advocacy analysis to the Vice President, Government Relations, and assist with public affairs and advocacy efforts in the region to favorably impact the policy environment in which the Company operates.



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute strategies to engage members in public policy input, comprehensive state, and local lobbying campaigns, and government relations
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and strategic partnerships with elected officials and policymakers to develop mutually beneficial partnerships to serve both the communities and to promote the Coca-Cola brand
  • Develop and implement strategies with State Beverage Associations and other strategic industry partners to secure funding and enable policy development and legislation to support development and growth.
  • Monitor news media, government sources, and coordinate with internal contacts for potential changes in regulatory and legislative areas to ensure that Consolidated reacts effectively and advises its members of the resulting impact on their operations
  • Advocate before government agencies at local, state and federal levels to protect and promote the organizations' interests


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience Lobbyist or working in a legislative or governmental environment
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other organizations, including member organizations and senior government officials in relevant federal government departments


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • Knowledge acquired through 5 to up to 7 years of work experience
  • Political Science, Communications.

Location could sit in either Indianapolis, or Columbus/Cincinnati area.
