Job Overview

The Payroll Manager will manage the team that handles the weekly and bi-weekly CCCI payroll processes for 4 Federal IDs in 22 states and maintain sole responsibility for the management of incentive file uploads. This position will direct reports' daily and weekly work effort; partner with Payroll Director to implement system changes, regulatory requirement updates, and payroll projects. The Payroll Manager will also participate in monthly general ledger close activities related to SAP accounting, including reconciling payroll accounts and providing required documentation for audit inquiries.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and ensures adherence to processes and compliance with CCC policy, SOX compliance, Federal and State wage and hour laws, and other relevant key controls
  • Manages daily and weekly payroll processes within SAP and reconciles payroll accounts monthly
  • Foster open communication channels with stakeholders, 3rd party vendors, and key strategic partners to achieve business results
  • Partners with leadership to implement continuous improvement of payroll processing through the development of efficiencies and documentation of procedural standards
  • Manages, leads, and motivates a team to deliver results by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines; engaging and developing teammates through effective performance management, coaching, and training
  • Implements continuous improvement methods while maintaining customer focus, and embodying company purpose and values to inspire servant leadership

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Possess full knowledge of Federal and State payroll laws and regulations. Experience with SAP or Success Factors would be most beneficial
  • Experience processing Multi-State payroll.  Exposure to Union employee practices (i.e. dues deductions, payments, etc.)
  • Analytical thinker who collaborates effectively with internal and external partners
  • Having a CPP certification through the American Payroll Association is valuable. Proficiencies in the following: Federal Wage and Hour laws, IRS and state tax authority guidelines and regulations, SOX compliance, audit processes, General Accepted Accounting Principles, and payroll processing requirements
  • Proficient in IS system applications and Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to communicate to senior management with effective oral and written communications 
  • Results-driven strategy for managing change and building organizational capacity through coaching, resources, and feedback. Exhibits managerial courage through calculated risk-taking, initiating necessary change, and tough decision making
  • Experienced at building key relationships, fostering open communications, and creating a learning environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of payroll tax experience
  • 5+ years management a team
  • Experience with ADP
  • Experience with SAP or Success Factors payroll systems are a plus
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll within a corporate environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge acquired through 7 or more years of relevant work experience
