Job Overview

The Carrier Procurement Representative position is responsible for growing our carrier capacity, managing the cost of hire, and maximizing profitability. The primary function of the job is to manage the execution of shipments that RCTS has through its customer relationships which include the daily solicitation of carrier base, on-boarding of new carrier partners, building long term carrier relationships, negotiating pricing agreements with carriers, and managing the execution of RCTS shipments to the expectations and requirements of our customers. The Carrier Procurement Representative is responsible for forecasting and capitalizing on changing market conditions, building relationships at multiple levels with our partners, and works independently to maximize performance and profitability.



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Daily solicitation of new and existing carrier base to develop relationships and find business opportunities that support the sales teams
  • Establishes and executes business development plans for on-boarding new carriers
  • Builds and develops relationships with multiple levels of contacts within carrier accounts and converts new relationships into repeat business
  • Identifies opportunities for account penetration and develops and implements solutions
  • Evaluates market trends, seasonality, and their impacts on costs to maximize company profitability
  • Utilizes industry and market knowledge to successfully negotiate high volumes of spot market pricing agreements with carriers to maximize profitability and ensure adequate capacity levels
  • Identifies opportunities to establish long-term pricing agreements with carriers to drive efficiency and productivity goals and to execute, and manage those agreements
  • Ensures the successful execution of all customer expectations for shipments
  • Delivers industry-leading customer service to all internal and external trading partners


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Normal office environment; Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Email, Instant Messenger, Photocopier, Excel, Word, SAP, TMW


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with up to 12 months of experience
  • Driver’s license


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
