Job Overview

The Logistics Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing Red Classic’s network by working with Senior Management to develop a strategy that improves asset utilization and cost while defining the best solution for quality revenue growth. The Logistics Engineer will continually monitor the network, run optimization scenarios using enterprise software platforms and make the appropriate recommendations and changes necessary to improve capacity utilization. This position will be accountable for ensuring overall network utilization for both the company-OTR, Owner-Operator, and Transport fleets and collaborate throughout the organization to build relationships and serve as a trusted advisor.



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert and leads process improvement initiatives by using software and mathematical techniques to model and analyze the current network.
  • Identify areas for optimizing productivity and improving revenue and efficiency, propose re-design alternatives to the overall network, and present to executive leadership.
  • Owns and manages the Pricing and Network technical toolbox and leads the creation of new tools and the corresponding development of training materials for teammates on their use.
  • Develop subject matter expertise through external research, benchmarking, and analyzing cost drivers.
  • Provide market intelligence and price trends.
  • Develop deep understanding where our risks and opportunities exist.
  • Works closely with Sales and Pricing Analysts, Managers to strategically improve our customer freight base and establish a go-to market strategy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Prior work experience with industry-standard software platforms including LlamaSoft, Blue Yonder, etc, is highly desirable.
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Manufacturing knowledge of process operating conditions and requirements leading to the successful manufacture of products.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance operations and best practices.
  • Ability to use known tools and techniques for problem solving, continuous improvement and root cause determination.
  • Ability to influence decision making of peers and manage
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization and facilitate change management.
  • Clearly communicates complex concepts with all levels of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience
  • Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering or Operations Research. Must be from ABET-accredited college program.
  • 3+ years of truckload asset experience required.
