Job Overview

The Manager, Commercial Development is responsible for leading and developing a team of Commercial Development Representatives to meet the company's talent and financial goals. This position will focus on strategic priorities, identifying strong customer partnerships to develop, and working with customers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. This position is accountable for meeting financial goals, performance metrics, including but not limited to the analysis of metric data and starting conversations that promote synergies between our customer operations and Red Classic operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements a strategic customer approach that promotes profitable growth across all modes of transportation and increases customer satisfaction including but not limited to ongoing quarterly business reviews, standardized customer reporting, standardizedcustomer communication routines, customer scorecard management, and other items that will drive a high level of customer satisfaction and growth
  • Leads a team of Commercial Development Representatives
  • Serves as the next level point of escalation for the customer on operational opportunities, including but not limited to opportunities for growth, ongoing trailer par overages/shortages, lanes or location specific improvement plans to improve on-time pick/delivery, reoccurring carrier issues, and other items requested by customer or carriers’ leadership team
  • Ensures all operational partners are held to high standards and monitor daily carrier operations by reviewing carrier scorecards with carrier leadership teams who can influence on time delivery, tender acceptance, EDI compliance, and all other scorecard criteria and create actions plans to help carrier to improve or make the decision to find a better carrier partner
  • Partners with internal departments including Sales, Pricing, Network Optimization, Brokerage, Asset Planning, Finance, Field Operations to optimize service and cost for key customer account.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • 3 to 5 years of Sales/Account Management experience
  • 3 to 5 years of Brokerage experience
  • Transportation experience preferred
  • People leadership experience and skill set
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with high accountability for personal achievement
  • Ability to interact with customer with limited leader support
  • Must have the ability to travel 10% of time
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience
