The Owner Operator Ops Manager will have direct responsibility for day-to-day over-the-road operations.  The Owner Operator Ops Manager will lead a team of operations employees to ensure safety compliance, maximum equipment and driver utilization, top quality customer service (relationship building and on-time pickup and delivery), revenue production, cost reduction and driver retention.  The Owner Operator Ops Manager will work to implement over-the-road strategies and monitor growth progress, correct issues impeding growth and provide feedback and solutions to management for continued improvement. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages, leads, and motivates a team of Capacity and Load Coordinators to deliver results by communicating company goals and deadlines; engaging and developing teammates through effective performance management, coaching and training; implementing continuous improvement methods while maintaining customer focus; and embodying company purpose and values to inspire servant leadership.
  • Monitor strategic over-the-road metrics including but not limited to: Safety – Compliance with DOT regulations and Accidents, Customer Service – On-time pickup and delivery percentages, Revenue – Revenue growth in compliance with over-the-road goals and P & L reviews, Utilization – Driver and equipment miles per day/week/month, Driver Retention, Cost Reduction – Minimize empty miles through network compliance
  • Provides feedback to management regarding obstacles impeding day-to-day functionality in addition to areas of opportunity to further growth.
  • Promotes the Red Classic culture through daily interaction with office employees, in order to establish strong cross functional relationships and to partner on organizational objectives
  • Maintains open communications with the Drivers to anticipate and address issues.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure companywide success including but not limited to: Customer Service to ensure the right lanes and volumes are solicited, pricing to advise of network gaps, recruiting to ensure quality hires are made to meet capacity goals, and payroll for any settlement discrepancies.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 to 5 years of over-the-road operations experience required.
  • 3 to 5 years of management experience
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Transportation Operational Platforms
  • Knowledge of government DOT regulations
  • Strong communications skills, Good motivational skills, Strong negotiation skills
  • Awareness of internal and external customer needs
  • Exceptional organizational skills.  
  • Operations Manager must have excellent time management skills and working knowledge and expertise of all aspects of OTR operations including safety, customer service, driver retention, employee developments and other operational KPI’s.
